September 2005 News Ronan Keating to join 'Congratulations' Source: eurovision.tv Written by: Sietse Bakker (Last edited by Gordon Roxburgh) Desctoday.com - September 30th 2005
Ronan Keating has previously been involved in the Eurovision Song Contest. Not as a competitor, but as a host in 1997, when the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Dublin. It was the same year, that Katrina and the Waves won with Love shine a light. Ronan Keating began his career as a lead singer in the boyband Boyzone. Later he was the one to assemble Westlife. In recent years Ronan Keating has focussed on his solo career with hits such as Life is a rollercoaster, If tomorrow never comes and When you say nothing at all. Last year Ronan Keating released a compilation of his greatest hits entitled 10 Years of Hits, and most likely it will be songs from this album that he will be performing in Copenhagen.

All smiles as Ronan and wife Yvonne take Little Ali home Irish Independent - September 11th 2005 LARISSA NOLAN
Yvonne gave birth to little Ali last Wednesday in Dublin's Mount Carmel hospital after a five-hour labour. The baby weighed in at 8lb 3oz. The couple headed home to Straffan, Co Kildare, with their new arrival wrapped in a pink baby blanket. Model Yvonne, 31, looked the picture of health as she accompanied Ronan out the hospital gates, adding a splash of glamour with a black poncho top and a designer handbag. Her husband was a little more casual in a white shirt and jeans, proudly holding his new arrival. Ronan said: "It was the easiest labour she has had so far, Yvonne looks great. You'd never think she had just had a baby." He said Ali looks very like their two other children, Jack, 6, and Marie, 4. "She's just like them," he said. "She has fair skin, blue eyes and brown hair." Thanks to Karen!

With Phil Lynott’s new statue barely wet in the cement, there’s already talks this week of a possible new Thin Lizzy tribute album. According to friends of the band, all the talk about the new statue got some of the biggest names around interested in recording a new collection of songs to mark one of the greatest Irish musicians of all time. A spokesperson for U2 said that the band are very interested in the project. The Thrills have already signed-up to the new album, and even Van Morrison allegedly grunted with enthusiasm. A record company spokesperson for Van said that once he was allowed to pick his favourite Thin Lizzy track, he’d be happy to work on the album. Tim Wheeler from Ash was also one of the very first to agree to a new album. He said: “I know we’re still at the talking stage, but I grew up listening to Philo. Listening to tracks like Kings Call and Boys Are Back in Town made me want to get into music. “I’d love to work on the new tribute album because I know that the people behind the project are in simply for the music. It’s not a case of the usual publicity sort of thing.” So you think the line-up’s looking good so far? Well, hang on, because not only are U2, Van Morrison and Ash ready to sing, but Ronan Keating has said he’d love to work on it too. Now even though we like Ronan, we never thought of Ronan ever singing a Thin Lizzy song. The album is due to be put together before Christmas, and expected to be released early next year. Thanks to Karen! Thanks from Ronan
