10 Years of Cosmo centrefolds

RONAN LAID BARE

The former Boyzone star reveals why his naked ambition is all for a good cause

Being one of the country’s most successful pop stars, Ronan Keating has posed for his fair share of photos. But his latest experience in front of the camera has been a rather more revealing experience – leaving him feeling, ahem, quite exposed.

The Irish hunk agreed to strip off for Cosmopolitan magazines

Naked Male Celebrity Centrefolds – and although it was more of a case of ‘coy zone’ than Boyzone, Ronan says he actually quite enjoyed getting his kit off.

“I was delighted to do it.  It was unnerving, but I‘m glad I did it.

“I’ve got no problem if I‘m on the beach and I take my top off, but it’s a whole different thing when you’re totally starkers!  Standing in a room with a load of people you don’t know, it makes you feel a bit nervous.”

The Celtic crooner has been working on his new album, Bring you home, which is out next month, and has been gearing up for it by getting his bod in shape.

“I hit the gym before the Cosmo shoot to do a bit of exercise and I’m getting ready for the record so I’ve been training quite a bit lately,” he says.

“Hopefully, it’s the best record I’ve ever made.  It’s very ballad-driven – it’s back to what I do best, to be honest.”

But the star says rumours of a Boyzone reunion are just that. “We’re talking, but just as friends, we’re not talking about getting back together, he admits, adding: “There’s no chance at the moment, but never say never.”

As for the new pop stars on the block, Ronan says: “There are some great UK artists, like Embrace and James Blunt.

“With things like Pop Idol and The X Factor, you can see it hasn’t been a great success.  But if you can get one Will Young out of all that, you’re doing something right because he’s a real talent.

The singer says getting naked was definitely worth it – and says it might not be the last time we see him in his birthday suit.  “Fund-raising is important but it’s really about awareness, getting in people’s faces so they pay attention, says the star.

“Early detection is your best chance of survival.

“I’d be less embarrassed about stripping off again.  Once you’ve broken the back of it, I think you’re better prepared!
