The Irish Mirror - March 25th 2006

By Maeve Quigley

RONAN Keating yesterday launched a new range of perfume that will help cancer sufferers.

The singer, 29, unveiled his new scents - Hope for women and Believe for men - at Roche's Stores in Dublin along with former Miss World Rosanna Davison.

And he promised all profits from the products will go to the Marie Keating Foundation in a fitting tribute to his late mum.

The singer said: "When I was first asked to create a scent I said no because I didn't think it was my scene.

"But when they came up with the idea that all proceeds could go to the Foundation I thought it was the right thing to do.

"And launching it around Mother's Day is perfect."

Ronan added he no longer feels sad on Mother's Day as his mum Marie - who died in 1998 aged 51 from breast cancer - would want him to enjoy the occasion.

Instead, he will spend tomorrow making a fuss of his wife Yvonne, 32, with their kids Jack, seven, five-year-old Marie and Ali, six months.

Ronan added it took him a long time to choose what notes he wanted in his perfumes.

He said: "I picked the flavours of the scent - for the men's one I chose what I like.

"But the women's was a bit more difficult - I had to ask my wife and my daughter for advice."

Ronan - who will release a new single All Over Again in three weeks - is ditching his annual walk across Ireland this year.

He said: "We were thinking of maybe climbing Mount Everest in 2007. But this year we're having a golf day at the K Club on July 24, our ball in November and events in the UK too."

Ronan Keating in Ghana

Community Channel

Ronan Keating travels to Ghana with Christian Aid for Comic Relief to discover the impact of international trade rules on the country’s farmers.

Ghana despite being a fertile land, with an abundance of natural resources has much of its population living in poverty. It's the sort of country that given the right conditions could easily feed its own population. But the conditions aren't right. The country isn't full of farmers busily producing food. Because of cheap imports, farmers struggle to male a living and go off in search of other ways to keep their families.

Ronan Keating travels the West African country to discover why this is the case and why local farmers cannot afford to send their children to school despite the Ghanaian governments efforts to curtail the influx of cheap foreign food.

You can watch Ronan Keating in Ghana all this week on Community Channel, starting tonight at 7.35 pm - 7.40 pm UK time

Ronan Keating to play Ashton Gate

This is Bristol - March 9th 2006

Former Boyzone star Ronan Keating is the latest star who will play at Ashton Gate this summer.

The Irish singer, now a successful solo artist with more than 17 million album sales in his career so far, will play a gig at Bristol City's stadium on June 24 - just four days before rock legends The Who perform at the same venue. Tickets for Keating's show go on sale today - and Evening Post readers will be able to take advantage of a special family package offer, details of which are in today's 24seven entertainment guide.

Bristol City chief executive Colin Sexstone said: "We are delighted to add Ronan Keating to our ever-growing, and impressive, list of big names who have appeared at Ashton Gate Stadium.

"This concert is very much geared to the younger audience, and I would think there will be lots of screaming teenagers.

"We are hoping to make it a real family event."

Dublin-born Keating, who shot to fame in the 1990s with the boyband Boyzone, will be performing his biggest solo hits, including Life Is A Rollercoaster, When You Say Nothing At All, Father and Son, and If Tomorrow Never Comes. The clean cut star, a married father-of-three, has had 12 top ten singles and three number one albums.

Now aged 29, he is due to release his fourth album later this year and is also set to branch out into movies - his first acting role is in a film called Guns, Money and Homecooking, which is due to be released later this year.

Keating will join a list of stars that includes Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, Sir Elton John and Bryan Adams who have played at Ashton Gate in recent years.

Tickets for Keating's show at the 23,000-capacity venue were to go on sale at 9am today priced £37.50, £35, £25, £20 and £15.

Two 24-hour telephone booking lines are available from See Tickets on 0870 1432 205 and Ticketmaster on 0870 4000 703.

To book online, log on to www.seetickets.com, www.ticket master.co.uk or www.bcfc.co.uk .

Tickets can be bought in person from the stadium and a general inquiry line, which does not handle ticket sales, can be called for information on 0871 880 8088.

A champagne hospitality package including souvenir programme, VIP circle tickets, pre-concert entertainment and reserved parking is also available for £176.25 by calling 963 0600.

and visit the official Cancer Research UK website for more details on the auction and cancer awareness.

From www.ronankeating.com

Last night Ronan helped to raise £130,000 for Cancer Research UK at their Sound and Vision auction and exhibition event, held at London's Abbey Road Studios.

Ronan led the auction which had a range of unusual and iconic pieces from the worlds of music, art and photography on offer, including a lithograph score of the Beatle's Yesterday donated by Sir George Martin, and limited edition prints by co-creator Jamie Hewlett.

Ronan said "It's a great pleasure and honour to be here tonight; I've been very lucky and made a fair bob and thankfully I'm able to give something back.

My mother died 8 years ago from cancer and one in three of us will be diagnosed at some stage. It's absolutely crazy; Cancer Research UK is making a difference. We can make a difference by digging deep and raising funds for much needed research."
