GMTV- LK Today: Monday May 15th ITV1 Ronan is first introduced before the ad break and is standing on the studio steps listening: Lorraine Kelly: As well as all of that I’m delighted to say Ronan Keating is here and we have got a gorgeous picture of him that is not to be missed, coz it’s quite naughty. We’ll be showing lots more of that won’t we Tina? (Tina Baker – TV critic) Yes (grins) (Ronan is laughing) L: I’m getting all flustered just thinking about it…oohh, and it’s a good idea but it’s naughty (Ronan is still laughing looking embarrassed) (After the break) L: Ronan Keating is with us as well, it’s really good to see you Ronan: Really good to see you too Lorraine L: I know it’s great to see you coz last time we were outside weren’t we R: That’s right yeah; a year ago today we started the walk! L: It was not was it? A year ago? R: A year ago today yeah, somebody just said it to me back there, I couldn’t believe it, it’s gone very quick L: It has, it’s too fast R: Yeah very quick L: It’s too, too fast. Now you’re going to be performing soon, with a very special lady, looking forward to that….. R: Ah very much so…. Kate Rusby L: You smell gorgeous! R: Thanks very much, thanks very much (grinning) L: I want to find out more about that, it’s lovely (Ronan laughs) R: Nice one L: We’ll be right back in a couple of minutes, see you then (both laughing) (Ronan and Kate are now on the sofa) L: Right now though Ronan Keating is back and he’s here this morning along with folk singer and duet partner Kate Rusby and it’s lovely to see the both of you (they both nod and smile) L: How did you two get together then, how did that all happen? Ronan: Erm I heard Kate’s albums, a couple of Kate’s albums and it was really the Underneath the stars track that really did it for me. I mean that’s…I’d say was a smash, it was a massive record L: Yeah it’s a great song R: And I loved it and I love her voice and thought it would be great to work together, so I sent her a copy of the track and she came back and said she’d like to do it, kind of L: Excellent, so it was just like that? R: Yeah it was great L: That’s fantastic, that’s really good. So what do you think of the duet then? Kate: I love it! (Ronan laughs) it’s fantastic R: She has to say that, she has to say that (laughs) K: Yeah it’s rubbish (laughs with them) R: Coz we’re about to sing it live (all laughing) K: No it’s really nice and different from what I would usually do as well, so it’s been really lovely the way something in his world; ya know……..it’s been fantastic yeah L: Coz normally you’re by yourself aren’t you? K: Yeah L: You’d be performing by yourself and likewise now obviously (meaning Ronan) so…but it’s quite nice to do that now and again isn’t it? K: Absolutely yeah R: I think so, makes it interesting ya know? As well, it just gives you a whole other angle L: Sure R: Not that it isn’t interesting, but it just gives you a whole other angle L: No it’s different though; it keeps things fresh doesn’t it? R: Yeah that’s it, for all the people watching too I think, or listening L: Sure, is this gonna be on the new album this track? R: Yeah, my new album is coming out the 5th June, so it’s on the album yeah L: So is this gonna the new single or what? R: Yeah the single comes out on the 29th May (looks at Kate and she nods and smiles) Yep L: Of May? Excellent ok so you’re gonna be doing it for us this morning which is great. Also though a big big weekend coming up as well, is it the Princes Trust? R: Yeah big big on Saturday, the Princes Trust 30th anniversary of the Princes Trust and it’s an amazing line-up on Tower Bridge, the Bee Gees are playing, Annie Lennox is playing, the Sugababes are playing… L: In Tower Bridge? R: I think its Tower Bridge yeah, I think so yeah. I don’t know exactly where the actual location but we’re rehearsing from Wednesday on, so it’s a pretty full on week ya know? It’s gonna be great L: That’ll be good fun R: Yeah can’t wait L: Now we’ve told everybody that we’ve got a picture of you……. (Ronan smirks) can we see the picture now please? Let me see the picture (It appears on the TV monitor next to them) L: (Speaking in a sultry voice) Hello (Ronan laughs) Kate: Woo Hoo! (Giggling) L: Let’s see it again, lets see it again R: You can’t put that on TV! L: That’s very very nice, now this isn’t just because you fancied doing that, it’s very kind of you, you know to let us all see that (mocking Ronan) R: Yeah just for the show ya know (laughs again embarrassed) L: You’re laughing, there’s no need to be embarrassed……. R: I’m not embarrassed, I’m probably red now but that’s alright……. (Lots of laughing) L: ……..These wonderful naked centrefolds, you’re not alone, there’s many other beautiful specimens of manhood in there, but it’s for a good cause isn’t it? R: Yeah it’s for prostrate and testicular cancer; the Everyman Campaign and err. I mean I was pretty nervous doing it I have to say as you can imagine….. (Lorraine is giggling like a school girl) getting it out, but err.. L: But you’re covered up its fine R: Originally, I actually had a pint of Guinness in front which I thought was a funnier shot but then they went for that one so… L: Right, no so that’s good, you look kind of quite mean there….but not mean, moody R: Moody yeah that’s me, the new me L: Is that your tattoos as well? R: Yeah L: Oh that’s yours! R: I’ve had them quite a while yeah L: I’m going to rush out and buy that, I have to say, just for research purposes K: Well we have to, absolutely R: Thanks man, thanks very much (squirming) L: Anyway it’s really good, because you do, do your bit obviously coz we saw you a couple of weeks ago….. (Lorraine hesitates and touches her ear piece smiling) they’re being so rude, they’re being so rude, they’re just all laughing in my ear about you doing your bit, that’s enough!. I was not doing any double entendres there thank you very much indeed. But you do such a lot of work for cancer, obviously and then with your mum and that’s terrific R: I’m delighted to be able to do it L: And I did say as well earlier on this morning that you smell beautiful R: Thanks very much L: And you’re bringing your very own perfume, no aftershave R: Aftershave, well both yeah, I’m wearing the aftershave this morning, but we launched perfume and aftershave for the charity L: Let me smell you (leans into Ronan) oh that’s gorgeous R: Yeah thanks L: That’s really really nice, it’s very fresh R: Thanks very much, can I say that? (Has hysterics and shakes his head) I like it meself L: So that’s for the boys and the girls obviously have something else R: Hope and Believe yeah are the two scents; they’re in the shops now and all the proceeds go to the charity, yep that’s very important L: That’s brilliant and you’re still working away with that, it’s still obviously a high priority, the music of course is what you do R: Yeah I mean, we merged, we had the partnership with Cancer Research UK which is when we launched the unit here out the back and that’s a big deal for us to have two of them here in the UK. With the hope that we’ll have a lot more on the road here very soon, yeah it’s going really well L: Good, good I’m really pleased, now obviously I have to ask you this ya know Take That are back? R: Yeah I saw them last Friday night L: What were they like? R: Absolutely brilliant L: Did it not make you think to yourself maybe we should perhaps perform again? R: The first 10 minutes, when the lads came on stage I hadn’t heard a noise like it on stage since Boyzone’s start of the show. I have to say you kind of get that feeling of, Ooh this would be nice again ya know? But err its different now for me, I’m doing different stuff. I mean I’m seeing the guys; we went out for dinner on Thursday night L: Oh good R: So we’re hanging out and we’re talking and that’s all cool but, and I never say never but there’s nothing planned at all. But I tell ya Take That are on form and if you get the chance go and see the show L: It’s apparently amazing R: It is, the best pop show I’ve ever seen, it was incredibly entertaining from start to finish L: Good fun, well you two are gonna perform for us right now R: We are L: I’ll get you to toddle over to our stage area, I thank you very much indeed, great to see you both, you’ve made my day (giggling again) again I did like that picture, can we see the picture again?
